Do I need to do any programming or soldering or is this ready to use when I get it?

If you buy a keyboard with keys included, it will be ready to use when you get it. Just plug in the USB cable and start typing. The keyboard works on later versions of Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. You can customize or remap your keyboard by downloading a free and easy to use GUI program. To change a key it is as simple as picking from a dropdown menu for a given key.
