Are there any photos of the HHKB layout?

Yes the bottom row will have the same key spacing but you can put any key you want in each space – the spacing is 1.5U 1 1.5 space bar 1.5 1 1.5 for the bottom row for all variations.  By default, if you choose the HHKB-like layout, the Ctrl and Caps Lock keys will be switched from the regular Model M layout so they are more in the layout of the HHKB.

Will the bottom row (ie spacebar and modifiers) be the same?

Sorry none as of yet.  It’s the same as the pictured layout with the following changes:

For HHKB/split right shift and split backspace printed layouts, custom printed keys will be included (if available from Unicomp): Delete key the size of | \, 1U size | \, stepped Ctrl/Ctrl-style Caps Lock, Caps-Lock style Shift, and 1U Fn.  For the HHKB set with the non-split backspace, you will not receive the 1U | \ key and the | \-sized backspace key.

I’m preparing to order but am having a hard time envisioning the layout. Does selecting HHKB style move the |\ key to the top row with the backspace in as it’s replacement? Could you post a quick mock-up so I know what I’m ordering? Thanks!

That’s the layout for the “regular 2 unit wide backspace”, not the “split backspace”, right?

The pictured layout is the HHKB with split backspace.  The original 2U key in the top right area has been replaced with two 1U keys.

I also expect to take and post photos of all the various layouts and options after I receive the early bird keyboards.
