Hello. I Love the keyboard design for the large “beam spring round 2” keyboard, the one in the default image. But I’m coming off an old unicomp keyboard I’m replacing, and the buckling springs are what I’m familiar and happy with. Is it possible to get the normal buckling springs with the huge, rounded “beam spring” keyboard?
Thank you!
Not from me, no, but you may be able to try to combine the inner assembly of the F104 with the beam spring case. Let me know how it goes! Just order the F104 Model F and a beam spring 104 case.
I can’t tell answer these questions as I don’t know. It would not be a project for beginners. I recommend going with the switch you like best and not the aesthetics you like best. You’ll notice the aesthetics for a little while in the beginning but after that it will be how the keyboard feels that will be primary when you are using the keyboard over the coming years.
Thats a shame. The aesthetics are not much of a concern for me. its Mostly that the keys are straight and level with the case, and not recessed inward, and sloped like the model M and F. I’ll be integrating this into my simulator cockpit eventually, and it would be a lot easier to use at the angle i’m intending to have it at.
I’ve read about the difficulties of beamsprings on the page. And how they wouldn’t be suitable for a “mission critical” setup, which I’d consider mine to be. With that in mind, is there no way to achieve the form factor of the beam spring 104 case, with a more reliable input method? It says the quality control of the round 2 is improved. But I’m not sure by how much?
If beamsprings are as much of a hassle as they appear to be, Then I’ll purchase a model F. but the form factor of the beam spring 104 case would help a ton for my specific needs.
Thanks for all the help!

Hello! thank you! I’d be willing to do it myself, but I just need to know that the components will actually fit? Or will this require extensive modification? I’ve only ever done basic keyboard repair and parts replacement, never anything more extensive than that. Would this be easy enough for me to accomplish?
Thank you!
