Hey,

Great project you have here. Congratulations. Admire your effort. Myself was a regular user of an original Model M so i’m looking into ordering one of these beauties.

Have a couple of questions though if you can help:

I always used ISO Enter key (Vertical big one). Is it possible to have an F104 with dark grey ISO Enter key?
How do I specify I want the layout with the ISO Enter key? Can I choose any layout like the US layout and have it with the ISO Enter?
Are MAC keys for the F104 also available in dark grey or other colours.

My preferable layout would be a F104 black case with dark grey printed keys, but would like to confirm first if the above is possible.

Hi! Fellow “New Model F user” here.

I happen to have exactly the same setup as you’re interested:
an F 104 with an ISO Enter key.

In my case the keyboard came in ANSI configuration, so I followed the manual for disassembling the inner assembly and moved around the necessary flippers+springs.

The keyboard has already all the holes and barrels necessary, the only difference is which thing goes into which barrel:
– ISO enter need a vertical (black) stabilizer insert in the barrel above, and a flipper and spring for the other key on the lest.
– ANSI enter need a horizontal (white) stabilizer in the barrel on the left and a spring for the “| ” key above.

Great; glad you are joining the project!

Currently ISO Enter is only available in pebble, green, or light gray, not dark gray.
Yes, just add an order note for ISO layout and then purchase the needed additional keys that you want on the extra keys page (including the ISO enter key and short left shift key)

DrYakthanks for replying; you are correct in how to update the board to switch between ANSI and ISO but the factory can set the board up for ISO directly as well.

Thanks for your reply.

So if I order the standard F104 model F with “Regular printed key set (US ANSI layout)” they will come in Pearl/Pebble colour, then I will probably order a dark grey full set and replace the pearl keys with dark grey making it a combination of dark/peeble keys.

One thing I didn’t understand was the need for a short left shift? shouldn’t I order instead a 1U “|” key to filt below the ISO Enter key?
Or am I seeing it wrong?
