I am loving the look and feel of my new Industrial gray f77 and I want to try and paint a model M this color. Does anyone know what finish would produce the same type of look? I can’t tell if this is “Satin” or “Semi-Gloss” or something else.
My color muse tells me that that my F77 color is a AF-720 Sparrow by Benjamin Moore, can someone confirm if this the right color?
I actually have one spare original NOS Industrial Gray Model M case with the oval colorful IBM logo – if you’re interested please email me. Far cheaper and less messy than painting, plus you’d have to powdercoat it with a special textured finish for the same look.
Semi gloss I believe is a close match. The colors are all custom mixed based on original cases mailed to the factory – AF720 is close (I considered it) but it is not a match. I was able to have Home Depot mix me some touch up paint by bringing the cases to the store; they have a machine to match the paint.
